The incident happened on Easter Sunday, April 9 around 7:30 p.m., when police responded to a residence in Mahopac for a reported dispute between roommates, according to Carmel Police.
The fight involved their pet guinea pig and eventually turned physical when both roommates began assaulting each other. They were then each taken to Putnam Hospital Center by emergency responders to receive treatment for their injuries.
Both roommates, whose names were not released by authorities, were later charged with third-degree assault, police said.
